Bee’s Knees Candle Co.

This logo design was completed for a small handmade candle company operated out of Manitoba. The goal was to create a logo that represented embodied the idea of Scandinavian idea of Hygge. This Danish concept cannot be translated to one single word but encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.

Hygge in graphic design exhibits the same feelings of warmth and comfort that this word stands for. Hygge illustrations, logos, and icons are at once inviting, accessible, and approachable, reminiscent of the homeliness you might feel when curling up with a good book in front of the fireplace, underneath your favourite quilt. Embracing hygge as the core aesthetic resulted in a logo that had hand drawn qualities, reminiscent of historic Scandinavian design. The logo is composed of warm natural colours to further enhance the coziness and natural aspect of the brand.
